Robert Montgomery

Robert Montgomery is the Chief Executive Officer for Achilles Media Ltd. an event management company that, in conjunction with specific industry communities, produces some of the world's leading media events including the Banff World Television Festival, the World Congress of History Producers and nextMEDIA - the International Interactive Media Festival. He is a member of several industry bodies and sits on the board of MediaBay Inc. (NASDAQ: MBAY).

Mr. Montgomery has been an executive and adviser for media, communications and technology companies and the investment community for many years. His work has generally been in the areas of operations, strategy, financing and development; market, financial and public policy analysis; and fairness opinions and valuations. His work as included investment in several companies in the media and technology sectors, and until 2001, he was Non-Executive Chairman of Media Content PLC, a media services company specializing in sports and entertainment television programming based in London, England.

Mr. Montgomery was President for the Americas of The Fantastic Corporation based in San Francisco, a broadband software provider to the media and information sector.  At Fantastic, Mr. Montgomery was instrumental in the company's successful initial public offering.

Before this, Mr. Montgomery was Managing Director of Kagan World Media in London, England, one of the world's leading media industry research and consulting firms.  At Kagan, Mr. Montgomery led teams which provided benchmark data and analysis the international media industry, completed advisory assignments for the world's leading media companies and financiers, and hosted many international conferences.

Prior to Kagan, Mr. Montgomery was a co-founder of Digital Media International, an events and publishing business based in London, England.  The company produced the Digital Media World Events in Singapore, Sydney and London, the London Effects and Animation Festival, and related publishing and marketing services in the film and television creative technology sector.

Before this, Mr. Montgomery served as Managing Director and Publisher for two magazine publishing and events companies, subsidiaries of what is now Informa Group PLC, and Euromoney PLC, respectively.

Mr. Montgomery is a recognized authority on developments in the media, technology and communications markets and has been a frequently-quoted expert in the broadcast, print and online media including The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Der Spiegel, Business Week, CNBC, the BBC and numerous media trade publications. In addition, he has been featured as a speaker or moderator at many industry seminars and conferences around the world.  

Mr. Montgomery is a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba and a graduate of the University of Manitoba.
